The ornate Edwardian architecture, a feature of this English Heritage listed building, presented a rare opportunity for artists to make a contemporary intervention. As well as establishing a visual flow, the client wanted the artworks to animate the spaces in the prestigious Whitehall entrance of the refurbished Treasury site. A shortlist was developed leading to commissioned works from the painter Peter Davies, and sculptors David Batchelor and Fiona Banner.
